Streetlamp Astrology

Hughes offbeat gnomic poetry is a constellation of words that orbits paradigms of life familiarities and the works of Richard Brautigan. Never overshadowing the intensity of wonder yet, pondering with a notion of bittersweet luster; the occasional brush over the humorous thought that challenges of yesterdays is what we'll be tomorrow, even if the streetlamps go dim or there's no glow in the sky.

"Rhys Hughes' latest poetry collection, 'Streetlamp Anthology' is a wonderful assemblage of Surrealist-influenced and daily vignettes, that evoke reality through a sharp yet often tender lens. Always surprising, Hughes's poetry is tribute to both reality and poetry itself, as the ultimate telescope set on our bizarre and yet unique planet. A must read for lovers of the uncanny and the wonderful." -Seb Doubinsky, author of The Word For Poetry Is Poetry

"These poems are philosophy with its tongue lodged firmly in its cheek. Streetlamp Astrology predicts a time when obscurity and melancholia are no longer synonymous with cleverness and depth. This Hughes isn't Ted. Thank goodness." -- Maithreyi Hughes
